Painted Bajot Low Table From Nagaur - 19th Century

Painted Bajot Low Table From Nagaur - 19th Century

This beautifully painted Indian bajot low table comes from Nagaur and dates to the middle to late 19th century. Traditionally used as a low prayer or offering table, it is crafted from teak and decorated with a rich red painted and lacquered finish, with raised beaded edges and charming hand-painted detailing.

The octagonal top features a wonderful circular scene of women dancing around a central floral motif, framed by painted flowers and bold striped borders. With its timeworn surface, original paint losses and aged patina, this bajot is a highly decorative piece that works beautifully as a low occasional table, display stand or characterful accent in an interior.
