Brass Bound Indian Military Chest -19th Century
This antique brass bound Anglo-Indian campaign chest dates to the 19th century and is a great size for a coffee table. Military chests were used by officers of the British Indian Army to carry their kit and personal possessions whilst on tour, they were made to order and had to withstand a lot of punishment in transit.
It is constructed from beautifully patinated burmese teak wood and has its original brass fittings and handles. The interior consists of one large space, and a chain to prevent the lid from falling open. There's a candle box in the interior for storing candles, a valuable commodity back in the day.
