Nagaland is still a tribal area with the Konyak tribe being one of the largest tribes. Historically, the tribes of Nagaland were headhunters going to war with neighboring tribes. Men of the tribes were heavily tattooed across their bodies including on their faces. This culture changed dramatically with modern Christianity in the early 20th century.
