This sideboard from Qinghai province in North-Western China on the border with Mongolia & has original painting. The painting on this is incredibly detailed.
This has a clear influence of Mongolia, however, the painting is more indicative of the Chinese style. As is traditional in these areas, locally sourced wood is used. This particular piece is made from lacquered pine wood.
These cabinets were used by nomadic people for storage of clothes and bedding or grain. Also used as altar cabinets for family ancestor worship
